Have you seen this blog? Maleah has so many great projects and fun ideas that I know many of you will enjoy it. I asked Maleah if I could share with you her cute Bunny pattern and tutorial with you. Here is Maleah in her own words…</em></p> <p>Announcing the:</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnSuwP_XY2BrEZk698A0BzmtWzOI9WUOA87Ha-NIpsn_Py3RBaUgApFgcvmmIxtmzEjR_riSXTioh-ukG8V-1vYXrGailkP09XRDRvOvb501yLLEQAbivZV-ouS6-laZrZTuRXEwULHkhW/s1600/lil+mis+bun+tute+0.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnSuwP_XY2BrEZk698A0BzmtWzOI9WUOA87Ha-NIpsn_Py3RBaUgApFgcvmmIxtmzEjR_riSXTioh-ukG8V-1vYXrGailkP09XRDRvOvb501yLLEQAbivZV-ouS6-laZrZTuRXEwULHkhW/s640/lil+mis+bun+tute+0.jpg" width="640" height="480"></a></p> <a name='more'></a><p>You will need: <br>The Lil' Miss Bunny Pattern (Down load her <a href="https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B8aCsEo9U3OFYmFmOGU0YTktNDFhOS00NDZlLWJiYzUtMjNkMDM2MTM0MGE1&hl=en">here</a>.) <br>2 complementary fabrics (I use corduroy and a light weight cotton.) <br>1 scrap fabric suitable for a tail (I use fleece.) <br>scissors <br>matching thread <br>sewing machine (You can hand sew her, but I use a machine.) <br>batting <br>hand sewing needle <br>chop stick (or some other long thin object.) <br>pins <br>embroidery floss in 2 colors ( I used navy for the eyes and pink for the nose.)</p> <p>First print out your pattern and choose your fabrics. The great thing is she really doesn't use a lot of fabric, I'll bet you could even make her with some larger scraps and make her all kinds of wild!) But, if you want her to look similar to mine, cut out 2 body, 8 arm and leg and 2 ear piece in the same fabric; then in your contrasting fabric cut out 2 more ear pieces.</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEljTsfuylWYYNQOfnlPxpxmtN1GPd4M_bevxDPAIrEEzs8mhSTwd-CkQUsiYsFMHFzuZKjWOkgHypyJrZsrkspeVinCSIWGk1vDQKSY-V5Dv2NffUULkMGacYgKdNcr9O5ZTRwk6d1QHV/s1600/Lil+miss+bun+tute+3.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEljTsfuylWYYNQOfnlPxpxmtN1GPd4M_bevxDPAIrEEzs8mhSTwd-CkQUsiYsFMHFzuZKjWOkgHypyJrZsrkspeVinCSIWGk1vDQKSY-V5Dv2NffUULkMGacYgKdNcr9O5ZTRwk6d1QHV/s640/Lil+miss+bun+tute+3.jpg" width="480" height="640"></a></p> <p>Here are all my pieces cut out. (I fold the fabric in half and cut them out two at a time.)</p> <p>Now it is time to embroider your bunny's face. Cut out the eye and nose holes on your pattern, then put the pattern back on top of one body piece and use a disappearing ink fabric pen to draw yourself a guide for where to embroider. Like this:</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBBZz7l_EUz5bzCW3CqeBXLsUY_zgLtuNpbDjBigaqwG7DXYgUcistYK5tISz4UJ8eo1Mz0m3GyUIOgG_v0wEbwLtXVP56-QJATmPO1jR3ktVIZJIXHsxYKON-U1rvpT0SmLOvLAFX3xx6/s1600/lil+miss+bun+tute+4.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBBZz7l_EUz5bzCW3CqeBXLsUY_zgLtuNpbDjBigaqwG7DXYgUcistYK5tISz4UJ8eo1Mz0m3GyUIOgG_v0wEbwLtXVP56-QJATmPO1jR3ktVIZJIXHsxYKON-U1rvpT0SmLOvLAFX3xx6/s640/lil+miss+bun+tute+4.jpg" width="480" height="640"></a></p> <p>See? Easy peasy. This next part is a bit tricky, so make sure you pin like crazy!! :) Leave the ends of your ears where they are but flip them over so that they are face down over the face of the bunny. Arrange them so that the line where you sewed them is at the edge of the head, like this:</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhinsHg3W6ZYQtQaskUCfXH5H_bjJx6s4-_3oArbhuYuFDz96OqdfWRDJeDarf3BZxjaFZANMwJVfD8q8vJ_75vNjk9EnVS2ycNue_BlW2jANQMmpOy0DWSnVn7HlZLdhDaEUH6qjG75XAX/s1600/lil+miss+bun+tute+34.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhinsHg3W6ZYQtQaskUCfXH5H_bjJx6s4-_3oArbhuYuFDz96OqdfWRDJeDarf3BZxjaFZANMwJVfD8q8vJ_75vNjk9EnVS2ycNue_BlW2jANQMmpOy0DWSnVn7HlZLdhDaEUH6qjG75XAX/s640/lil+miss+bun+tute+34.jpg" width="640" height="480"></a></p> <p>See? Face down, over the face, with the sewed line at the edge of the head.</p> <p>Now it's time to make a bunny sandwich. Match the back side of the body, <em>right side down, </em>on top of the ears, with the front side of the body. Pin the ears in place first then pin the rest of the head all the way around. </p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFbLpsDJRyjtknTz8YzFbCIw6ylFB5mgbdh-WXu0j6jLj2QBrHWgHhut9BfjsQD5vsiv34fLhsvO75nRZblzrgnQh_8LO_W3lewf303_8zpkxHUqeVVc7T6M8PR2-PKg1TlebmV-erC7Ww/s1600/lil+miss+bun+tute+35.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFbLpsDJRyjtknTz8YzFbCIw6ylFB5mgbdh-WXu0j6jLj2QBrHWgHhut9BfjsQD5vsiv34fLhsvO75nRZblzrgnQh_8LO_W3lewf303_8zpkxHUqeVVc7T6M8PR2-PKg1TlebmV-erC7Ww/s640/lil+miss+bun+tute+35.jpg" width="640" height="480"></a></p> <p>Ears pinned.</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9P1CXrw55CISke5XjaajAqfTWPP_k0IkPSFufnorp_qMmAkht_GMcZtRm7B6Xkrn-pI4FQznib6FokS1v5IZk99nN4iTKGxj4GHWJJ9s8yBGtgzeiMtgOGeJb3ccfiuTnxd6tGoklpjDl/s1600/lil+miss+bun+tute+36.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9P1CXrw55CISke5XjaajAqfTWPP_k0IkPSFufnorp_qMmAkht_GMcZtRm7B6Xkrn-pI4FQznib6FokS1v5IZk99nN4iTKGxj4GHWJJ9s8yBGtgzeiMtgOGeJb3ccfiuTnxd6tGoklpjDl/s640/lil+miss+bun+tute+36.jpg" width="640" height="480"></a></p> <p>Head pinned. You'll notice I pinned a LOT. The more you pin, the less chance of movement while you are sewing. You can see that the body isn't exactly lined up at this point. Don't worry, we'll fix that in the next step. Right now, make sure that your bunny's head is lined up and that the tips of the ears are stuffed into the center of the head. You don't want to accidentally sew them into the seam!!</p> <p>Now move on to pinning the body and placing her arms. Pin down a half inch on both sides of her neck then pins the arms in place in the same way that you pinned on the ears. Like this:</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY6jpj2oOvB610S6OopgGYSU4DFLkqNZLQxFU2QXPzgLj0gwIoW-iLGxt-Dg0yHk_LX5bxtpMr_S4r9ThRWfq1OJs3PYDT8UQERLtSQpmZYKnuPCfw9b_grg1ks2zMvPkW0ZPVgGXdxZhj/s1600/lil+miss+bun+tute+37.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY6jpj2oOvB610S6OopgGYSU4DFLkqNZLQxFU2QXPzgLj0gwIoW-iLGxt-Dg0yHk_LX5bxtpMr_S4r9ThRWfq1OJs3PYDT8UQERLtSQpmZYKnuPCfw9b_grg1ks2zMvPkW0ZPVgGXdxZhj/s640/lil+miss+bun+tute+37.jpg" width="640" height="480"></a></p> <p>Once you have one arm in add the other. Yes, she's going to be rather stuffed. As long as you keep pinning you won't have anything to worry about when it comes time to sew her, I promise!!</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWHL3ieDAFy2ZFlTA729J5X4r9qV-pbs8693RQXoQl9NMnw7-M1HWE9T3Klkq27r9ZBfxRNhoyly_vdjyVeMy2sgZ6D9yo5R2-GXZ-903Ut8OmlIhOn7CBr5jjMTZRGGXMs7AUlANOaN3p/s1600/lil+miss+bun+tute+38.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWHL3ieDAFy2ZFlTA729J5X4r9qV-pbs8693RQXoQl9NMnw7-M1HWE9T3Klkq27r9ZBfxRNhoyly_vdjyVeMy2sgZ6D9yo5R2-GXZ-903Ut8OmlIhOn7CBr5jjMTZRGGXMs7AUlANOaN3p/s640/lil+miss+bun+tute+38.jpg" width="640" height="480"></a></p> <p>Keep pinning around her body, again, like the ears, making sure that her arms stay clear of your soon to be seam.</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKLi6JIk5CmeaRzlNmuTQJbA5eSunvo7nbqDjoG9PrlkU6KDYlZNtQ8_cv4lAqGBmlWNfZXITfEylNPRDygYOATMFO5dmoLcbc4tKrF5crC1sIkoNJuAfc2yyuPRt2562IsXFO8lVYS2OV/s1600/lil+miss+bun+tute+39.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKLi6JIk5CmeaRzlNmuTQJbA5eSunvo7nbqDjoG9PrlkU6KDYlZNtQ8_cv4lAqGBmlWNfZXITfEylNPRDygYOATMFO5dmoLcbc4tKrF5crC1sIkoNJuAfc2yyuPRt2562IsXFO8lVYS2OV/s640/lil+miss+bun+tute+39.jpg" width="480" height="640"></a></p> <p>When you get to the point on her body that starts to curve around the bottom you will pin in her legs the same way that you pinned in her ears and arms. Leave the bottom space between the legs open so the you can turn her right side out.</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXmDyz5Spq7Zn-NNUggad2SEFy-HnZG8c_c90z3PoRLtWzWYNBGaq3QEJZKJl5jyYN8Ex-jc_dF8jZnXpZ3w6MyTMBBnGqdcnFftcZeumnVMrIpxtpRUjmVsNIxYDtLoZGmsli26LEft5g/s1600/068.JPG"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXmDyz5Spq7Zn-NNUggad2SEFy-HnZG8c_c90z3PoRLtWzWYNBGaq3QEJZKJl5jyYN8Ex-jc_dF8jZnXpZ3w6MyTMBBnGqdcnFftcZeumnVMrIpxtpRUjmVsNIxYDtLoZGmsli26LEft5g/s640/068.JPG" width="640" height="480"></a></p> <p>Now, sew all the way around the body with a 1/4 inch seam allowance. You <em>should</em> take your pins out as you sew... but I never do. Then remove all your pins and get ready to turn her right side out! You're almost done!!</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVsLx63BDyrrE03oUkCSXhXHJHhHPv2so52og50-6qKVGIP_YPAvJyWefkTs79P7ZfPugfOrr6Qgd5yHwDSxLMuzBcPDOGKePsAQkVowoB1ip_f-P9YP4ck3oN-8lyXXO4GLS2egKIc7fE/s1600/lil+miss+bun+tute+43.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVsLx63BDyrrE03oUkCSXhXHJHhHPv2so52og50-6qKVGIP_YPAvJyWefkTs79P7ZfPugfOrr6Qgd5yHwDSxLMuzBcPDOGKePsAQkVowoB1ip_f-P9YP4ck3oN-8lyXXO4GLS2egKIc7fE/s640/lil+miss+bun+tute+43.jpg" width="480" height="640"></a></p> <p>Here she is all sewn up from leg to leg!!</p> <p></p> <p>To turn her right side out, reach in and grab a leg and pull it out. She'll look something like this:</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgS3qQF4GoBb-uaTR-a6veJS1sKfJ180UPNHCMJlar6K8q7SmiUGTvNe4qq9KfuuOe3pQWaCdtMuxi7lyWyATevbk7A-9suKGjcMOQYvfBFjwxTSlQvLarZ80TqoS56mqzaZWwLtn4fnO6Y/s1600/lil+miss+bun+tute+44.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgS3qQF4GoBb-uaTR-a6veJS1sKfJ180UPNHCMJlar6K8q7SmiUGTvNe4qq9KfuuOe3pQWaCdtMuxi7lyWyATevbk7A-9suKGjcMOQYvfBFjwxTSlQvLarZ80TqoS56mqzaZWwLtn4fnO6Y/s640/lil+miss+bun+tute+44.jpg" width="480" height="640"></a></p> <p>She's giving birth to herself!! Like this:</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0gVgsL91CrNPQf9pE8RrVfydyJ37zaxyg7ekPeB7QXYP6ipDftzFSpZNPKI3HOW3RQ7QcTfTAU00LUy_pVNPfQuufKaGCKjs90ZruZoYl-Mr3OsSyUIZUMpvu5SR2bSgF9hTzP8iU7CJj/s1600/lil+miss+bun+tute+48.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0gVgsL91CrNPQf9pE8RrVfydyJ37zaxyg7ekPeB7QXYP6ipDftzFSpZNPKI3HOW3RQ7QcTfTAU00LUy_pVNPfQuufKaGCKjs90ZruZoYl-Mr3OsSyUIZUMpvu5SR2bSgF9hTzP8iU7CJj/s640/lil+miss+bun+tute+48.jpg" width="480" height="640"></a></p> <p>Don't worry if she's not perfectly round or exactly symmetrical, it add character and gives life to your bunny. Plus your little one will love her just the same, flaws and all. (A life lesson for us perhaps?) :)</p> <p>Now would be the best time to sew on your bunny's tail. I forgot about it and waited til she was stuffed, making it harder (but still doable.) To prepare your tail, take a very small amount of stuffing and roll it in a ball and put it in the wrong side of your fabric.</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5spKeN1YsweNxG69Y58e3PIbI3mNYYE7lu8pXpchG1z0FMnCnTyYshBxfXVYONhUSd8YdVxuL6TKCOLdH13NGBfYx34vrda9TNxY8ft7dcix9Rzk_m4Z-Sf_UhyYXnOaGiKtMbjYOmC4Q/s1600/lil+miss+bun+tute+53.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5spKeN1YsweNxG69Y58e3PIbI3mNYYE7lu8pXpchG1z0FMnCnTyYshBxfXVYONhUSd8YdVxuL6TKCOLdH13NGBfYx34vrda9TNxY8ft7dcix9Rzk_m4Z-Sf_UhyYXnOaGiKtMbjYOmC4Q/s640/lil+miss+bun+tute+53.jpg" width="640" height="480"></a></p> <p>Then squish in the edges like this:</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSaenBr14oNNtLcTYYqZc-Tp1C4vf7tWiOYiOwVG_-NlosTXdz0yuC3zFIuH06xlZVludRM9KylPcHsxpLEXiFdSWHoK69uXnW9YDZfXRG3KlheYqradHSmgj7hyphenhyphen3mGaN91ISygUPb5JPh/s1600/lil+miss+bun+tute+54.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSaenBr14oNNtLcTYYqZc-Tp1C4vf7tWiOYiOwVG_-NlosTXdz0yuC3zFIuH06xlZVludRM9KylPcHsxpLEXiFdSWHoK69uXnW9YDZfXRG3KlheYqradHSmgj7hyphenhyphen3mGaN91ISygUPb5JPh/s640/lil+miss+bun+tute+54.jpg" width="640" height="480"></a></p> <p>Hand stitch it so that it becomes a little ball like this:</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtmESHyRU0rfSmQdg4C_qahMfzctwVQ36RpZ1Z1M_21nB0YMrQNnMaNJJQp9GRNJnU9GL32xjnmnEj3-WsuPf-ntzhBF9jqshzleVzGjcfeegFJHJmI6BUbpChW2jyXxeR5taPS-ghyphenhyphenaCc/s1600/lil+miss+bun+tute+56.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtmESHyRU0rfSmQdg4C_qahMfzctwVQ36RpZ1Z1M_21nB0YMrQNnMaNJJQp9GRNJnU9GL32xjnmnEj3-WsuPf-ntzhBF9jqshzleVzGjcfeegFJHJmI6BUbpChW2jyXxeR5taPS-ghyphenhyphenaCc/s640/lil+miss+bun+tute+56.jpg" width="640" height="480"></a></p> <p>The back side.</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEW8M1M-HEl3-jY5nt3cqr4fWgJm14lkiHZfaA7d1S11HSZ-TxWfY1LTz8rOHrTri2JbNFYi9Yivw1GbcrHJuWXWfSGhhenWrrdmpsxcHG0uhcm0JMpfOZzzx-Qi-HvZ9XQkwXaiKexb9h/s1600/lil+miss+bun+tute+57.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEW8M1M-HEl3-jY5nt3cqr4fWgJm14lkiHZfaA7d1S11HSZ-TxWfY1LTz8rOHrTri2JbNFYi9Yivw1GbcrHJuWXWfSGhhenWrrdmpsxcHG0uhcm0JMpfOZzzx-Qi-HvZ9XQkwXaiKexb9h/s640/lil+miss+bun+tute+57.jpg" width="640" height="480"></a></p> <p>The front side. He was born at 23 weeks old on May 30, 2009 and was just too small to pull through. We posted the service idea on our blog and entitled it “Calling All Angels” asking anyone that wanted to could help by donating baby blankets. We were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support we received by so many, friends, family, and even strangers. </p> <a name='more'></a> <p align="center">We decided to donate the blankets to a hospital particularly a NICU for premature babies as I know how meaningful the blankets that Jayden was wrapped in are to us. It is something physical I was able to take home with me and that I can pull out and hold when I’m missing him. We feel the blankets are symbolic because as we were waiting for Jayden to be born, the hospital staff, family and friends surrounded us with their support, love and warmth, just as blankets bring love and warmth to the babies they are wrapped around. We experienced an outpour of love & support, and were able to donate close to 100 blankets. We were so touched and many people expressed to us that they would have liked to have been involved and didn’t know about it until it was too late. We decided to do it again so for the 2nd year in honor of our sweet son Jayden, we are Calling All Angels. </p> <p align="center"> <iframe title="YouTube video player" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/uijOHaeNFpM" frameborder="0" width="640" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe></p> <p align="center">Visit their blog-- <a href="http://www.nealandangie.blogspot.com">Neal and Angie</a> or,</p> <p align="center">Send your blankets to: </p> <p align="center">Calling all Angels </p> <p align="center">c/o Neil and Angie </p> <p align="center">P.O. I'm Amy from <a href="http://www.amerooniedesigns.blogspot.com/">Ameroonie Designs</a>. Amy was so kind to let me come over and spend some time with all you lovely people! I am thrilled to share with you my tutorial on how to make this side-tie pillow. I have to admit- this is one of my favorite pillows to make. I love that it lets me show off a fabric, while adding texture with the bows. (you can see the others I have made <a href="http://amerooniedesigns.blogspot.com/2010/12/birthday-bedroom-makeover.html">here</a> and <a href="http://amerooniedesigns.blogspot.com/2010/12/pillow-talk.html">here</a>). <div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs0fRau3DYegFEQoxpg8iEXlQX0uZa_-UdqJE-aAzn4j-FU5LzQ9epFfle3SiZlyz6r9xPOQLw7zgJIyK1VBOvyGF-LVYIj0GTJpBDpYh1b-Zl_o9O2ROsB11t0toW02gRLoU985e9CJs/s1600/000_0071.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; width: 200px; float: left; height: 150px; cursor: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5564103876275711458" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs0fRau3DYegFEQoxpg8iEXlQX0uZa_-UdqJE-aAzn4j-FU5LzQ9epFfle3SiZlyz6r9xPOQLw7zgJIyK1VBOvyGF-LVYIj0GTJpBDpYh1b-Zl_o9O2ROsB11t0toW02gRLoU985e9CJs/s200/000_0071.jpg"></a>First you will need to start with a pillow form. This will dictate the measurements of the fabric you are cutting. The pillow I made was 12" by 16". You will need to cut: 1 pillow back- the measurements of your pillow + 1" (mine was 13" X 17"), 2 pieces for the front- take the length of the front piece (on mine 17), divide by 2 (I rounded up to 9) and add 4"- (my pieces were 13" X 13"). This will give you enough off-set that the bows will be on the side- but you are welcome to adjust the measurements (make one longer so the bows will be even further to the edge). Then you will need six ties. I am using a wool felt for this pillow, so I'm not worried about fraying- so mine are 13" by 3/4", but if you are using a fabric that frays, make the ties 1 1/2" so you can fold in the edges. (you can make the ties longer if you want a larger bow- but I'd keep them no longer than about 16" or they just get too long) <div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPL5tOVUVb5RKkvVCGqDzX-h5bEKAKyq4NH3L4I0nWQZj3WkQna00y2aiE1pzV3mCETFfevua8yHSSpqg_fI9ULNchqGjDv3mmyW7m1azuTcuP4uQoY_8b3F0J7HOrk06jdGqsCi-zHv4/s1600/000_0108.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; width: 200px; float: left; height: 150px; cursor: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5564099481160972994" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPL5tOVUVb5RKkvVCGqDzX-h5bEKAKyq4NH3L4I0nWQZj3WkQna00y2aiE1pzV3mCETFfevua8yHSSpqg_fI9ULNchqGjDv3mmyW7m1azuTcuP4uQoY_8b3F0J7HOrk06jdGqsCi-zHv4/s200/000_0108.jpg"></a>Take your ties and fold them in half. {If it's a fabric that frays you will press this fold, open it up, bring the raw edges into the fold line and press those folds. Then re-fold the center crease so the raw edges are tucked into the center. Fold up one short end into the crease so the raw edge is hidden.} Then edge stitch both sides of the tie- keeping the folded edges as close together as you can. Hem one side of each front panel by first folding the edge over 1", press, then fold over another 1". Top stitch at 3/4" and edge stitch the fold. (make sure the sides you're hemming are the ones you want to overlap. Lay the back panel of the pillow on a flat surface. Line up the top pieces so they overlap, using the back panel as a guide for the width of the pillow. <div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNSdgypmTQfqa-BeOsxG016JtsNExQekygK4zrAT02414YHPJpR6uQXNXSFgMP6phEPTpufir2fhSWRBNNe_OXoCgw4SCtbQgVAdaq1A-CtaL0UdIg1sI_m_S3FQj6kir7CQ5NE8g3MIg/s1600/000_0112.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; width: 200px; float: left; height: 150px; cursor: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5564099461412828386" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNSdgypmTQfqa-BeOsxG016JtsNExQekygK4zrAT02414YHPJpR6uQXNXSFgMP6phEPTpufir2fhSWRBNNe_OXoCgw4SCtbQgVAdaq1A-CtaL0UdIg1sI_m_S3FQj6kir7CQ5NE8g3MIg/s200/000_0112.jpg"></a> Take the front panel that will be on top of the pillow and fold it in half along the hemmed side. Mark the center with a pin. <div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEincWS4oDo8RfW7SNoGdYyorU_33N9b1-WBW2b-fMb05OHOYEuUVh_glH8eEQpiqF0l9XWb9VdZVTqWXIdl4F4Pthj7RSX7FeIBPoO7imIfqhvuYifSASEUknmIY8iLZzFGiGx8e20oFvA/s1600/000_0113.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; width: 200px; float: left; height: 150px; cursor: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5564099451083374514" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEincWS4oDo8RfW7SNoGdYyorU_33N9b1-WBW2b-fMb05OHOYEuUVh_glH8eEQpiqF0l9XWb9VdZVTqWXIdl4F4Pthj7RSX7FeIBPoO7imIfqhvuYifSASEUknmIY8iLZzFGiGx8e20oFvA/s200/000_0113.jpg"></a>Decide how far apart you want your ties to be- remembering that you will be sewing around the perimeter with a 1/2" seam allowance to finish the pillow. Mine were 3". Mark each measurement from the center pin. <div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ75euTW1O9aVcLb60yxq0FnPtTsa44l38phc3l5AM7ss27a-maAi54oPswIRCBvmHv6164R3ZAzPbmNsxyPX9WptssVW3v9I_P1MqIzst9y3CAdcydX0MgG1kzMdXelWvqkskDIe4mh8/s1600/000_0114.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; width: 200px; float: left; height: 150px; cursor: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5564097812685525730" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ75euTW1O9aVcLb60yxq0FnPtTsa44l38phc3l5AM7ss27a-maAi54oPswIRCBvmHv6164R3ZAzPbmNsxyPX9WptssVW3v9I_P1MqIzst9y3CAdcydX0MgG1kzMdXelWvqkskDIe4mh8/s200/000_0114.jpg"></a>Now we're going to place the ties. If you are using a fabric that frays- you will pin them down as shown by the tie with the pink pin, folding over the end about 1/2". When placing the tie onto the panel that is underneath, I usually put the tie about 1/4" from the edge of the top panel. Pin all the ties in place and sew them down. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgqxFXzsAUkB6bIizVk1VLlmBwaiLaVhVFSmZ7_FefbfZwl7NSIpZ6NfAJO37dNSvFMTfiiDHdlT2jbh9z32fu6Kg35-i-bR7hBpO9ngJUStenWvzxNwOmm4WPlc99fvyEcizM6u7Qopo/s1600/000_0116.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; width: 200px; float: left; height: 150px; cursor: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5564097809381643682" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgqxFXzsAUkB6bIizVk1VLlmBwaiLaVhVFSmZ7_FefbfZwl7NSIpZ6NfAJO37dNSvFMTfiiDHdlT2jbh9z32fu6Kg35-i-bR7hBpO9ngJUStenWvzxNwOmm4WPlc99fvyEcizM6u7Qopo/s200/000_0116.jpg"></a> We're almost done! But this is the step that always makes me stop and think- so follow along with me! Take your back panel and place it on a flat surface RIGHT SIDE UP. Now take the front panel that will be on the TOP (ties should be sewn close to the hemmed edge) and place it on the back panel RIGHT SIDE DOWN. Match up the corners and edges and pin in place. Now take the remaining panel and pin it down. Make sure all the ties are tucked into the middle and won't get caught in the seam, or interfere with the placement of the front panels. <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR5m-wudAJpKyrI0AdcqEY7yPxmUo4zs4Y6G4yWTUJL-OGor-qSPg6CFfx202zVe_quzjPUs0jRH8MsuG4qNLA1syRDnwQTQxAf33TUzwheg0gjWwGtQPdHXG_-XUzrsjEuPpSCKNeYlk/s1600/000_0117.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; width: 200px; float: left; height: 150px; cursor: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5564097801695644258" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR5m-wudAJpKyrI0AdcqEY7yPxmUo4zs4Y6G4yWTUJL-OGor-qSPg6CFfx202zVe_quzjPUs0jRH8MsuG4qNLA1syRDnwQTQxAf33TUzwheg0gjWwGtQPdHXG_-XUzrsjEuPpSCKNeYlk/s200/000_0117.jpg"></a> <div> <div> <div>Here it is all ready to be sewn. I shared a great project <a href="http://www.positivelysplendid.com/2011/01/valentine-project-for-little-ones.html">here</a> for how to make some plantable Valentines with your little ones, but that project is admittedly somewhat time consuming. Today I thought I'd share a Valentine idea that is equally as cute, but with a much smaller time requirement! Once I got used to the whole process for making these Sliding-Door Valentines, it only took me about 10 minutes or so to put one together.<a name='more'></a> Not too shabby! <p align="center">I first stumbled upon the idea for a sliding-door card in a card-making magazine eons ago. I decided to adapt the idea for Valentine's Day this year as a treat for my kiddos! <p align="center">All set? Let's get started! <p align="center"><i>For this project, you will need...</i> <p align="center">Pre-folded blank cards <p align="center">Assorted patterned papers <p align="center">A die cutting machine <p align="center">A heart-shaped soap mold (I found mine at Hobby Lobby) <p align="center">Scrapbooking adhesive <p align="center">Letter stickers <p align="center">Ribbon <p align="center">Scissors <p align="center">Candy <p align="center">step <b>1</b> / For each card you plan to make, cut a small heart shape and a larger heart shape. Your smaller heart should be at least 1/4" larger than your soap mold heart, to ensure that you will have enough room to trim the center out later on. For the soap mold I bought from Hobby Lobby, a 3.5" and a 4" heart were just the right size. <p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVSGvsf-Aa84zZjIkJmHj8kY0s2KeDvo5p_NcKTMIm4o7lK2fnCxTcIPhTryq4SMoq2mhNLUsee7d3kdelrpZUYAjwyTE-TFs_23ifzBQjNT-QiYDXqthJvVIfQkeikbOzZWpsGzGCXw/s1600/IMG_7660.JPG"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVSGvsf-Aa84zZjIkJmHj8kY0s2KeDvo5p_NcKTMIm4o7lK2fnCxTcIPhTryq4SMoq2mhNLUsee7d3kdelrpZUYAjwyTE-TFs_23ifzBQjNT-QiYDXqthJvVIfQkeikbOzZWpsGzGCXw/s640/IMG_7660.JPG" width="640" height="444"></a></p> <p align="center">step <b>2</b> / Hold your soap mold up to a well-lit window (or a light box, if you have one), and place a piece of copy paper on top of it. Use a pencil to carefully trace the outline of the heart shape of the mold. Carefully cut a scant 1/8" outside of this traced line around the perimeter of your heart, as shown. <p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJ4Wn9q6oPEWxfUPQYiqD2937HLoM2RDUY8UhXVqrVyhoyTrjzOwHrl-PcNfdS5Uz8RfcybYo067Hw_JoyjTeDcEUOoAvnrqeLIWooKZxPI77lgP7p88UGGOOJY71eGyCvg6bozkG8aA/s1600/2011-01+%2528Jan%252935.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJ4Wn9q6oPEWxfUPQYiqD2937HLoM2RDUY8UhXVqrVyhoyTrjzOwHrl-PcNfdS5Uz8RfcybYo067Hw_JoyjTeDcEUOoAvnrqeLIWooKZxPI77lgP7p88UGGOOJY71eGyCvg6bozkG8aA/s640/2011-01+%2528Jan%252935.jpg" width="640" height="640"></a></p> <p align="center">step <b>3</b> / Now, center the template you just created on one of your smaller hearts, and use a pencil to trace it carefully. Poke your scissors up through the center of the heart you just traced, and carefully trim out the center of the heart, so you are left with a hollow heart shape, as shown. Now, position this smaller hollowed out heart onto your larger heart shape, making sure everything is centered correctly, and use the hollow center to trace a heart center onto your larger piece. Trim away this heart center just as you did before, so that you now have two hearts with hollow centers. Adhere the smaller heart on top of the larger, carefully aligning the heart centers, as shown. <p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnmsUOIGLGGz9nBm3e3k9GF_O3UC2KXM5hw_9d5XGN1sLmkoBCS6Ni4FntD0ODsU9AOda5BpIemmbfZmMqtaz1AH__8KzRZS0o8V4xxlMZN1z6kwditeyNZRP4atICZqBFKee2Osx9Ig/s1600/2011-01+%2528Jan%252936.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnmsUOIGLGGz9nBm3e3k9GF_O3UC2KXM5hw_9d5XGN1sLmkoBCS6Ni4FntD0ODsU9AOda5BpIemmbfZmMqtaz1AH__8KzRZS0o8V4xxlMZN1z6kwditeyNZRP4atICZqBFKee2Osx9Ig/s640/2011-01+%2528Jan%252936.jpg" width="640" height="640"></a></p> <p align="center">step <b>4</b> / Now, position your stacked hearts on the front of your blank card, and use their center opening to trace another heart. (Make sure to position your stacked hearts exactly as you want them to appear on your finished card as you trace.) Cut out the center of the heart you just traced just as you did in step 3. Use adhesive to affix your stacked heart piece over this opening, so that the edges of the heart openings are all precisely aligned. <p align="center">step <b>5</b> / Trim one of your pre-folded cards in half. Position one of the halves inside your outer card, making sure all of the edges are precisely aligned. Use a pencil to (you guessed it! ;) trace off the trimmed heart from the front of your card onto this center piece. Trim the center away from the heart you just traced, just as you did in the preceding steps. Set the center piece aside for now. <p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6l_yTJCPC7wXc6rkggUf9zrY2_d8Sly5XfhuufMArO-cnh9CjiBbc47KHZ-0x5c_3hy6L9GR_0ezTYxbehGIlpqjDaplgsXUhLckMtGOFlQPgW-5V2hlEMDRnYUq23ha1M9HAY8eG8g/s1600/2011-01+%2528Jan%252937.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6l_yTJCPC7wXc6rkggUf9zrY2_d8Sly5XfhuufMArO-cnh9CjiBbc47KHZ-0x5c_3hy6L9GR_0ezTYxbehGIlpqjDaplgsXUhLckMtGOFlQPgW-5V2hlEMDRnYUq23ha1M9HAY8eG8g/s640/2011-01+%2528Jan%252937.jpg" width="640" height="640"></a></p> <p align="center">step <b>6</b> / Trim around one of your soap mold hearts, making sure to leave a 1/4" border all the way around it, as shown. Apply adhesive around the rim of this border (I used tiny adhesive dots), and then push the shape up and through the heart window on front of your card, pressing firmly to adhere it securely. <p align="center"> step <b>7</b> / Grab the center piece you created in step 5, and run adhesive around three outer edges <i>on the front</i> this piece, leaving the short edge closest to your heart open, as shown. Affix this piece behind your card front, so that the heart openings are precisely aligned. <p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglJIe6QQ7aNExcyAlM2RFGWHgUEsr_ThC5yquETIg7KLhLsP2CftcV8zHvAC5mW8jAXbYbR2och1uehxrhwyrPlBR37PvcUh0j-SaQHK5jH8pSCR-Ka4hG8VG1yj-SP33_XMxMAXXUqQ/s1600/2011-01+%2528Jan%252938.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglJIe6QQ7aNExcyAlM2RFGWHgUEsr_ThC5yquETIg7KLhLsP2CftcV8zHvAC5mW8jAXbYbR2och1uehxrhwyrPlBR37PvcUh0j-SaQHK5jH8pSCR-Ka4hG8VG1yj-SP33_XMxMAXXUqQ/s640/2011-01+%2528Jan%252938.jpg" width="640" height="640"></a></p> <p align="center">step <b>8</b> / Now, embellish you card front with letter stickers, as desired. Trim a piece of paper for the sliding "door" of your card. (For my cards, a 2.5 x 5.5" pull tab was just the right size.) Embellish the front of one end of this piece with letter stickers and a piece of ribbon, as desired. Now, open up your card, and fill your heart mold with candy, being sure not to overfill the space. Slide your pull tab through the side opening between your center piece and your card front (this is why we only applied adhesive to three sides of our card center), so that it covers the candy-filled heart opening as it slides through. <p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLPu26nWvJQVlP9WylBrxze3bwQa1kLT06Y1t7EL8uyowXn6fOZ9RJt7AnabY3fsIiZgFzRu_j_400mNofS8NzA9Ey35H8LsUj5z_26rzr9jCxfMfNci2bsn_nr5raslWZ1cCuN-8TcA/s1600/2011-01+%2528Jan%252939.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLPu26nWvJQVlP9WylBrxze3bwQa1kLT06Y1t7EL8uyowXn6fOZ9RJt7AnabY3fsIiZgFzRu_j_400mNofS8NzA9Ey35H8LsUj5z_26rzr9jCxfMfNci2bsn_nr5raslWZ1cCuN-8TcA/s640/2011-01+%2528Jan%252939.jpg" width="640" height="640"></a></p> <p align="center">All finished! <p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlSIdngVkw1CP721TQCnlvA_5ocIXzU0xYluNXWPzA6kbqM66xf2TignM1Rk51tpJM0YOt6sR-pT8aShsCqF9P_Suybqs1gR23O24WixDtYHn6yIJGrJjzqHJZ0CQF_rUvSHtywlGHmw/s1600/IMG_7701+copy.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlSIdngVkw1CP721TQCnlvA_5ocIXzU0xYluNXWPzA6kbqM66xf2TignM1Rk51tpJM0YOt6sR-pT8aShsCqF9P_Suybqs1gR23O24WixDtYHn6yIJGrJjzqHJZ0CQF_rUvSHtywlGHmw/s640/IMG_7701+copy.jpg" width="640" height="462"></a></p> <p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNYMBfVY9IXD9-7unGDEzIht1ajj-g25VPI3FnRDbXD912XhDG-nmWPRaQihmFStfptjchHy2bffyrT4qdzTulrAopvDHP-BIFG3sYPqhkrzeJSv3nWwP3XFUqxYStbyE44lbHsRuIXw/s1600/2011-01+%2528Jan%252940.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNYMBfVY9IXD9-7unGDEzIht1ajj-g25VPI3FnRDbXD912XhDG-nmWPRaQihmFStfptjchHy2bffyrT4qdzTulrAopvDHP-BIFG3sYPqhkrzeJSv3nWwP3XFUqxYStbyE44lbHsRuIXw/s640/2011-01+%2528Jan%252940.jpg" width="640" height="640"></a></p> <p align="center">Helpful Hints and Tips <p align="center">No Cricut at your disposal? And the stencil was really large which helps when you are painting a big area.</p> <p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGZJopmW8qjhrtwajQLFwBpwUR_dAtk4MC3C-6IDF3Os8VZbzx4blSfz_SxPOGtTT4Hb3dTb5ZK-gBs9mDHEb6T1Zx4rOOg0zV1oROz86JuO4pkekM-x7bqB9SkmHR3wCUQdCxI_TLKtM/s1600/5room_edited-1.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGZJopmW8qjhrtwajQLFwBpwUR_dAtk4MC3C-6IDF3Os8VZbzx4blSfz_SxPOGtTT4Hb3dTb5ZK-gBs9mDHEb6T1Zx4rOOg0zV1oROz86JuO4pkekM-x7bqB9SkmHR3wCUQdCxI_TLKtM/s400/5room_edited-1.jpg" width="400" height="360"></a></p> <p align="center">Because I was doing my ceiling and I had gravity working against me, I used a spray adhesive on the back of the stencil along with painters tape. <br>I started in the corner above my door so that if I messed up, no one would really notice when they looked in my room. The 2 things you need to remember are <b>a)</b> don't overload your roller with paint!<b> b)</b> don't push too hard. Both of these things will cause the paint to bleed under the stencil. If you are nervous, practice on cardboard or a garage wall. I found that I had to roll in all directions to get paint into the nooks and crannies. The first one I did 2 coats of paint. It was nice and even but I decided I like the look of one coat of paint better. It looked like fabric.</p> <p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2ARRbiO7XFXNH5L8NmMA4yEYsNuU_o2lwjdyVjBSbVy_4ZDYURD56OCqNGmulHNkw85TGTQBa3Sw74xR5umRf5kuZULidypAoM2JeUVH4eH-S_GESJyjRa_eip6boBO1g3fGhOecYS3M/s1600/8room.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2ARRbiO7XFXNH5L8NmMA4yEYsNuU_o2lwjdyVjBSbVy_4ZDYURD56OCqNGmulHNkw85TGTQBa3Sw74xR5umRf5kuZULidypAoM2JeUVH4eH-S_GESJyjRa_eip6boBO1g3fGhOecYS3M/s400/8room.jpg" width="400" height="302"></a></p> <p align="center">I know you are lovin' the shower cap. Pretty genius if you ask me.</p> <p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWBXFiAnVDIs882tN7BUD21F2JcZE6eCo8c3UqhQwFt8Jsp6rMKSaQo2NYReAsnb65hzqtnDzXLL6Sg8Z1pLPk0U_wyMgowcWR7WYdPTk0B_GHUj0b6ngMeMsrWudS8KCKPTIAC565GSU/s1600/9room_edited-1.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWBXFiAnVDIs882tN7BUD21F2JcZE6eCo8c3UqhQwFt8Jsp6rMKSaQo2NYReAsnb65hzqtnDzXLL6Sg8Z1pLPk0U_wyMgowcWR7WYdPTk0B_GHUj0b6ngMeMsrWudS8KCKPTIAC565GSU/s400/9room_edited-1.jpg" width="400" height="257"> </a></p> <p align="center">Okay, now for the low down. Was this project easy? Yes. Was this project time consuming? Yes. I have four kids so that equals about 49 million interruptions. Because I was doing this on the ceiling I couldn't just peel it off then move it in place and immediately start on the next one. I had to wait for the paint to dry on the stencil (5-10 minutes) before I could place it again. Why? Because I had to press on the stencil to get it to stick to the ceiling. Not fun when it is all wet. But it wasn't too big of a deal. I would stick it up, paint it, take it down, and then go do something else for a bit. Change the laundry to the dryer, unload the dishwasher, play Go Fish with my 3 year old (you get the idea). Then I would run down and do another one. So in total, it took four days. <b></b><br><b>IF</b> I had been doing a wall like a normal person, it would have been MUCH faster. And <b>IF</b> I didn't have any children at home to interrupt it would have been much, much faster. <br>Overall it was TOTALLY worth it! I have no idea how I lived with a white ceiling before. And I have plans to use this same stencil upstairs in my hall. I am thinking cream and chocolate brown. . . <br></p><em><font face="Times New Roman"></font></em> <p align="center"><em><font face="Times New Roman">Isn’t that so amazing! Love it! The husband isn't too fond of themed decor. I'm slowly converting him. Very slowly. So I thought these pillows were a nice, not <i>too</i> over the top, compromise. <p align="center">Plus, I finished them rather quickly which is always a huge plus in my book. <p align="center"><b>Materials:</b> <p align="center">-Fiber Fill (whatever kind you liked best) <p align="center">-1/2 yard of your choice of fabric for the pillows (I used duck canvas) <p align="center">-black fabric paint <p align="center">-paint brush <p align="center">-freezer paper <p align="center">-Picture of you and your love (you could also use clip-art) <p align="center">-Cupid print out (I found mine online for free) <p align="center">-Cardboard square (small) <p align="center"><i>*I realized about half way through how easy this would be if I only had a </i><a href="http://www.silhouetteamerica.com/"><i>Silhouette</i></a><i>. <b>Oh how I want one of you</b>. I'm sure you could find a cupid in their online store or import one of your own. But it is still a quick project even without, so lets move forward. </i> <p align="center"><b>Construction:</b> <p align="center">1. Cut. Cut fabric into 4 squares 13 x 13. <p align="center">2. Sew. Take two pieces of fabric. With right sides together, sew around all four edges with a 3/8 inch seam leaving about a 5" gap along one edge for stuffing. Repeat for other two squares. <p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_hiVYSomzQgjokpNvPSc9IbpbIr8dM5InxuYvOj85wZ7Ky-u2tQ7hrItKTWpqqI9yxb0Uf8BmjNMnOaeeavjjh4Wtzvts4n56zyba_PZa6QDHFNg2pUzB5v7WcpsTi68W81gwzv6FYsI/s1600/IMG_2035.JPG"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_hiVYSomzQgjokpNvPSc9IbpbIr8dM5InxuYvOj85wZ7Ky-u2tQ7hrItKTWpqqI9yxb0Uf8BmjNMnOaeeavjjh4Wtzvts4n56zyba_PZa6QDHFNg2pUzB5v7WcpsTi68W81gwzv6FYsI/s400/IMG_2035.JPG" width="400" height="300"></a></p> <p align="center">3. Trace. Take your images and tape to cutting board. Place freezer paper over the top of image shiny side down. Trace with an exacto knife to cut image out on freezer paper. You will end up saving the outline not the actually cut out image, so don't throw away the scraps (I used <a href="http://www.dana-made-it.com/">Made's</a> directions for the freezer paper stencil. Go <a href="http://www.dana-made-it.com/2008/08/tutorial-freezer-paper-stencil-makenna.html">here</a> if you need more help). Iron. Place your freezer paper stencil onto your canvas exactly where you want your image to show up. Iron down stencil. Be sure to get the edges really well so that paint doesn't seep through to unwanted areas. <p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDqKFO-lGAIQh2jvUbxXaturxnSg_T0tFz6I_GsU4p0hXNZidkWUIdquz9yCfyXVG0O3PCyUeO6ZTwoL-8CxXqo6KkumilGjinVh1Thixp_MAV2Ih_uOFiyBrR7HdKCauBVewVxOooT6k/s1600/IMG_2040.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDqKFO-lGAIQh2jvUbxXaturxnSg_T0tFz6I_GsU4p0hXNZidkWUIdquz9yCfyXVG0O3PCyUeO6ZTwoL-8CxXqo6KkumilGjinVh1Thixp_MAV2Ih_uOFiyBrR7HdKCauBVewVxOooT6k/s400/IMG_2040.jpg" width="400" height="300"></a></p> <p align="center">5. Let dry and seal with iron. <p align="center">7. Stuff. Fill pillow with fiber fill or stuffing of your choice. <p align="center">8. Hand sew pillow closed. For Valentine's Day we pull out our <a href="http://www.theidearoom.net/2009/02/love-pillow.html">Love Pillow</a> and do kind anonymous acts of service for one another. <a name='more'></a>We also make and decorate our traditional heart sugar cookies sometime before the holiday. We always host a Valentine's Dinner with our entire family in our "fancy" dining room with the "nice dishes" and eat by candlelight...it makes a nice romantic dinner...for 7...LOL! <br /><br />Then my husband and I usually reserve one night {usually not on Valentine's} due to the crowds and have a nice date for just the two of us!<br /><br />What about you? What do you do to make Valentine's Day special?<br /><br /><em>**Keep it clean!
